Off to the vineyard this weekend. It is Emily’s 21st birthday and I am so happy I get to spend this time with her. It is much needed. There is something about the organization of vineyards that is magical to me. When you are walking down the gritty path, smelling the budding trees, feeling the wind in your hair, there is no order, much like the path of life. You feel the stress, the happiness, the ups and downs. You may step in a pot hole, you may climb a hill. The path is not straight until you make it straight. It can get crooked you may fall. When you look at a vineyard from afar, there is absolute order, with each tree lining up perfectly in straight paths. Everything these trees need, they have. They grow from the depth of the soil into a budding vine that produces only the sweetest grapes. Keep your perspective. Sometimes we need to step back and realize that there is order to our lives. Our paths may seem filled with rocks and pebbles, taking us off course and down an unknown path. Remember that your path is straight, and it is different than everyone else’s path. You are equipped with everything you need to produce the sweetest gifts.
