SUMMER. SUMMER. SUMMER.
Summer is always an interesting season for me. As a child, I did not spend my summers with my friends frolicking in the pool and licking popsicles. I was always put on a plane to visit my dad and his family for three months. Looking back, I do not regret one bit of it. Resentment was always there, but realizing how much those times meant to him was all worth my exclusion from the hot, sticky season.
As an adult, I find myself fulfilling my childhood summer wishes with mojitos, laying out, and shopping. (When I am not working of course.) Now is the time for summer flings, tan skin, golden glows, snow cones, beach towels, the cold, refreshing splash of water on a hot day…enjoy.
The summer night is like a perfection of thought. It is quiet, all-encompassing, calming and mind-clearing. The sweat on your skin cools your body, your hair blows in the warm wind, and the stars are brighter than ever.

High Five for Graduating.
I have not posted in so long and I deeply apologize. Things have been uber-hectic. I am now a college graduate let loose upon the world. I guess you can say that I am finally free. I am going to try and get back on my regular posting schedule, so please bare with me.

Mother’s Day is coming up. As I think back on the memories of me and my mother, I cannot help but feel overjoyed that we have shared so many precious memories together. From 2am donut trips to dancing on the bed to John Denver, I cherish every minute.

Off to the vineyard this weekend. It is Emily’s 21st birthday and I am so happy I get to spend this time with her. It is much needed. There is something about the organization of vineyards that is magical to me. When you are walking down the gritty path, smelling the budding trees, feeling the wind in your hair, there is no order, much like the path of life. You feel the stress, the happiness, the ups and downs. You may step in a pot hole, you may climb a hill. The path is not straight until you make it straight. It can get crooked you may fall. When you look at a vineyard from afar, there is absolute order, with each tree lining up perfectly in straight paths. Everything these trees need, they have. They grow from the depth of the soil into a budding vine that produces only the sweetest grapes. Keep your perspective. Sometimes we need to step back and realize that there is order to our lives. Our paths may seem filled with rocks and pebbles, taking us off course and down an unknown path. Remember that your path is straight, and it is different than everyone else’s path. You are equipped with everything you need to produce the sweetest gifts.

Now that I am embarking on a new journey, there are some things that I love that I have accomplished, know that I need to accomplish, and things I do not want to accomplish. (like, having to solely pay for my own life :) I came across this article from the Huffington Post. I am far from the 30-year-old mark, but this is great advice. Some of my takeaways:
By 30 you should have:
-A youth you are content to move beyond
-The belief that you deserve it
-A skin-care regimen, an exercise routine, and a plan for dealing with those few other facets of life that don’t get better after 30. (check. minus the exercise routine- that is always a work in progress for me)
- A solid start on a satisfying career, a satisfying relationship, and all those other facets of life that do get better.
By 30 you should know:
-How to quit a job, break up with a man, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
-How to Live Alone, even if you don’t like to
-Where to go — be it your best friend’s kitchen table or a yoga mat — when your soul needs soothing. (I know mine is being on the phone with my best friend and being with my dog)
-Who you can trust, who you can’t, and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
-That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over. (This one hits home for me. Nothing is perfect. Definitely not my childhood, but I would not change it for the world.)

Katie Kime Maennle

I am so glad that Katie Maennle is back in my life. Her enthusiasm, energy, creativity, and smile capture my heart each and every time I am in her presence. Not only is she an amazing person, but also an incredible designer that has the potential to be the next Tory Burch. Mixing the style of the Hamptons with the charm and hospitality of the South, Katie Kime Maennle is taking the world by storm, or by design. Originally from North Carolina, Katie moved to Austin and nothing has ever been the same. Trunk shows, online merchandise, and interior styling have made Katie a well-known brand that we all love. Please follow her on Facebook and Twitter, and check out her website. Katie has given me the privilege to take on her blog, website, and all multimedia elements, as well as design all of her events. Katie and I’s serendipitous re-connection is exactly what was supposed to happen in my life right now, and I am ecstatic at the opportunity. Here are some of her designs:
